Security and compliance
Your patients' information is encrypted on disk and again inside the database, stored in Canadian data centres, and protected by controls an independent auditor has examined.
Compliance
An independent CPA firm examined our security controls in daily operation over several months and issued its report. Request a copy from our Trust Center.
We meet the safeguards the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rules set for health information, the standard many health organizations ask their vendors to meet.
Canada's federal privacy law governs how we collect, use, and disclose personal information. Our privacy notice explains how we follow it.
Ontario's health privacy law sets the rules for how clinics and the services they rely on handle personal health information. We meet them for every Ontario practice that uses Medulla.
Encryption
01
Every connection to Medulla, from the browser plugin, the web app, or your phone, uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or newer. Browsers are told never to connect to Medulla any other way.
02
Our databases, their backups, and our file storage are all encrypted on disk.
03
Sensitive patient information is encrypted a second time inside the database, each field on its own, with keys stored separately from the data. A copy of the database alone shows nothing readable.
