Does the patient need an app or an account?
No. They join from a secure link in their browser, and only the patient can get in. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.
Are visits scribed like in-person ones?
Yes. Medulla writes the note during the phone or video visit, the same concise SOAP note you get in the room, ready for your EMR by the time you hang up.
Is the video recorded?
No. Medulla uses the visit's audio to write the note. Video is never stored.
Can I add video to a phone call?
Yes. The call stays on the phone while the patient shows you what you need to see, and ending the video leaves the call running.
Whose number do patients see on a phone visit?
Your clinic number. Set your caller ID once and calls go out under your clinic line, so patients never see your personal number. Medulla can also provide a local number to call from.
Do I need a separate phone or app?
No. Phone and video visits start right from the encounter page, with no separate telehealth app to juggle.
Can I keep working in the chart during a video visit?
Yes. The video sits in its own small window beside the chart, and it stays with you when you open another chart.
Can I wear earphones during a visit?
Yes. Unlike other AI scribes, Medulla phone and video visits work perfectly with earphones. We encourage clinicians to use them for maximum privacy with their patients.
How does the patient's number get filled in?
It is pulled from the chart, so you click to call. You can also dial a number by hand on the keypad when you need to.
